There's a few categories for things that aren't as easy to see (like the card artists). Most other things like gender/type/speed you can see by sorting the unit pages (just click on the column headers). There's also a limit to the number of pages displayed at a time on the category page, so I'm not too sure how useful the category pages would be and if anyone would use them over the unit pages themselves.
