Training
Training events replace the usual training stages with event-specific stages. All players start from stage 1-1 and progress from there. As usual, there are monsters to kill and card rewards. The number of stages in each episode increases by 1, with a boss to be killed before moving on the the next episode.
Training also has a special bonus called "Fever Time", which increases the rewards. It last 5 minutes.
Bosses
During training missions you have a chance to randomly encounter an event boss. Event bosses are either Standard or Special.
Deploy Limits
When fighting a boss you can by default only deploy one unit. There are special event items that you can spend to deploy an additional unit of your own.
In order to deploy allies, you need to "Request Assistance". The Request Assistance button has a one-hour cooldown (or "Use Potion") and costs 10 training points to use. All your allies will receive a notification and may spend 1 training point to assist you. Once they've assisted you, you may deploy up to three of them the next time you fight the boss. You may only deploy each ally once per assistance request.
Boss Strengths / Weaknesses
Every boss has a type (Ground / Air / Sea) as well as defense strengths against each type of attack (Melee / Missile / Magic). Bosses will be strongest against attack types where they have a defense of "A" and weakest against those attacks where they have a defense of "D".
Combining knowledge of their type, as well as their weakest defense, will help to defeat bosses more easily. For example:
Boss | ★ | Type | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Elizabeth_m |
5 | C | C | D |
Elizabeth is a Ground-type boss, who is weakest against Magic attacks. Deploying Magic-type units that have a high Ground attack (Monica, Petra, Maple, etc.) will be very helpful.

---|---|---|---|
A | B | C | D |

Standard Boss Scaling
Defeating a standard boss will increase its level by one so it gets harder each time you encounter it. Letting the boss timer expire without defeating it (not running away, but letting it expire) will decrease its level by 3. If a boss is starting to become too difficult, it's a good strategy to let the timer expire to make it easier.
Boss Randomness
The odds of encountering a boss is the same for all players. When you encounter a boss, one is picked at random for you to fight. Lower rarity bosses have a much higher chance of being chosen so by the end of the event you may have the 4★ bosses at level 50 and the 6★ bosses may only be level 3 or 4.
Event Units
Having an event unit as your leader when training won't increase the chances of encountering a boss, but instead increases the chances of that boss being of higher rarity. With a 6★ event unit you'll have approximately the same odds of getting a 6★ boss as a 4★ boss.
Event Items
There are three main types of event items that are found in all Training Events (item names vary from event to event):
Spikes
Training events have a "Spike" type event item. Instead of sending assistance to an ally you can send a Spike to deal direct damage to their Boss while awarding you BT Points and event tokens. Because this is a significant way to obtain BT Points and Reward Tokens, you are relying on receiving requests for assistance (which come consistently from your allies and randomly from other, non-allied players) in order to be able to use your Spikes.
While it may vary per event, using a Spike generally awards roughly 3,000 BT Points and 1,000 Rewward Tokens.
Spikes can be obtained in several ways:
- Completing event-specific Training stages
- Unlocked by collecting enough Reward Tokens
- Bundled with purchaseable card packs
- Rarely dropped by special Training Bosses
If you are the recipient of a Spike, when fighting Training bosses, the Spike will do additional damage if you have a bonus unit set as your Leader (extra damage increasing proportionately with the rarity of your bonus unit).
Key Items
Training Events also have a "Key" type item which can be used when battling Training Bosses. The Key is a single-use item and is consumed by immediately on use, whether you win or lose the battle at hand. It increases your attack power by a small amount (8%) but it's main purpose is to enable you to deploy an additional 4 units of your own in the battle. This can be useful as normally you're only able to deploy 1 unit of your own during Training battles, and are depending on assistance from allies to fill the remaining 5 spots.
Keys can be obtained in several ways:
- Completing event-specific Training stages
- Unlocked by collecting enough Reward Tokens
- Bundled with purchaseable card packs
- Purchaseable directly for 100 Mobacoins ($1 USD) or in bundles of 11 for 1000 Mobacoins ($10 USD)
- Rarely dropped by special Training Bosses
At some point after the Training event ends, any remaining Key items in your Inventory will be converted into Potions.
(note: the name varies greatly for Key type items - in different events, these have been books, shields, orbs, potions, etc.)
Reward Tokens
Reward Tokens can be accumulated over the course of Training Events. There are generally around 20 rewards that can be unlocked by collecting enough Tokens. Each reward can only be collected once, and is sent directly to your Inbox.
Tokens can be obtained in several ways:
- Defeating Training Bosses
- For non-shared Bosses, the amount of Tokens scales up in accordance with the level and rarity of the Boss. The amount of Tokens is increased additionally when Bosses are defeated during Fever periods
- Defeating a shared Boss, while it varies per event, generally awards roughly 2,000 Tokens per kill
- Sending Assists to other players
- Sending a normal assist awards a very small amount of Tokens (5 - 10), while assisting by sending a Spike item awards roughly 1,000 Tokens
While rewards (and the amount of Tokens required for each) vary per event, some common ones are:
- Spikes and Key Items
- Enhancement items ( Ambrosia, Soma, Ichor, Aurora Essences)
- Tickets ( 4★+ Tickets, 5★+ Tickets, 6★+ Tickets)
- Goddess units ( Anu, Danu, Tartu, Epona, Enurta)
- New units
The final / highest Token reward usually requires hundreds of thousands of Tokens to unlock. This is generally a new unit, and is often untradeable.

In 2014, Training Events were more frequent (19 over the course of the year), and started to become shorter in length. While the early part of the year had events that still tended towards the longer side (~7 to 10 days), by September the events became much more condensed (only ~3 days each).
There were 6 Training Events over the course of 2013. The Doomsday Tower was notable in that it introduced the game's first 7★ unit, Lilith. At this point, Training Events were still on the longer side, ranging from one week to almost two weeks in length.
